Image
Synopsis:

A new plague is ravaging the country, but the infected are not so much sick as they are homicidal. Demons have begun escaping their prison and found a way into our world through the slumbering minds of humans.

Dee works alone and has ever since her father was killed. She is one of the strongest of her kind, set apart from the rest by a secret that haunts her every waking moment. Yet, her solitary existence is suddenly shattered when a dark force gathers in the streets of Cleveland.

Rather unexpectedly, Dee finds herself paired with two others of her kind, each struggling with the paths set before them. Dave, a father who has lost his child, and Luke, the one person who may be able to save her soul. Together they help her delve into the very core of evil that plagues the country and, through bloodshed and heart break, realize just far they’ll have to go to save that which they love the most.

The Sands of Time by Dianna Hardy (The Witching Pen Novellas #2)

Image
Synopsis:
(Book Two of The Witching Pen Novellas)

Seven days ago, Elizabeth May tried to commit suicide. She was found by Paul, her husband, who took her under his wing and back to their home. But the attempted suicide is not Elizabeth's main problem -- Elizabeth can't remember who she is, or a single thing about her life beyond the past week.

Plagued by nightmares about a familiar black panther, and a terrifying snow leopard, she is convinced that the dreams are trying to show her something important, and is determined to regain her memories, one way or another.

Meanwhile, Pueblo -- the demon blood-bonded to the witch, Amy -- is going insane trying to find her. Amy disappeared one week ago, and it seems not even their bond is strong enough to penetrate whatever magic hides her.

As Pueblo enlists the help of angels and demons alike, Elizabeth begins to piece together parts of her forgotten life. But what she uncovers may just have her wanting to turn away from who she really is …

The Witching Pen (Novellas #1) by Dianna Hardy

Image
Blurp:
(Book One of The Witching Pen Novellas)

It's hard being the most powerful witch on the planet. It's even harder when you're a twenty-five year old virgin who'll lose all of that power the moment you sleep with someone ... that's why Elena's never slept with her best friend and flatmate, Karl, despite the true feelings they harbour for each other.

Elena's about to discover that there are even more difficult things in life to deal with. One of them comes in the form of a pen she discovers one day, a pen that allows anything she writes to come to pass...

Suddenly, it's not just her powers or her heart that's at stake, but her very soul, as a dream demon with a seductive pull uses the pen to try and turn her away from her reality, and from Karl.

But the pen is just the beginning. Everything Elena has believed in is a lie, and her world is about to fall apart...

My Review:
This is a novella just so you know, but you will get a whole story out of it that…

Wilted by Dianna Hardy

Synopsis:

A short story prequel to The Witching Pen Novellas.
(This story takes place ten years before the events of The Witching Pen Novellas.)

Fifteen-year-old Elena hides her magical abilities from everyone, except her best friend, Karl. Inseparable since they were very young, they've always shared everything together, including the darkest parts of their lives.

Elena's beginning to realise that her feelings for Karl are growing into something more. But her mother's about to drop a bombshell on her – one that will change the course of her life, and heart, forever.

PUBLISHERS NOTES:

This UK-based story is suitable for YA readers, but it should be noted that The Witching Pen Novellas series is aimed at adult readers.
For fans of the series, this story includes two parts of Elena's past that were made reference to in The Witching Pen: 1) The moment that Karl turns up on Elena's doorstep having been beaten and 'jumped on' by his father and 2) "The Sex Talk&quo…

Definition of a Novella

I wanted to let you all know what a Novella means just in case you did not know. I just learned really what a novella meant, because I was buying or downloading books for free and they seem to be super short. 50 pages or 35 pages, and it made me a bit upset because I thought I was not getting the whole book. So when I went back to look at what the description said I noticed the novella around the title, so I went and Google the definition and here it is:

short novel: a fictional prose work that is longer than a short story but shorter than a novel.

My review for City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Image
Synopsis:

Donna McCormick is a smart, pretty college student whose twenty-first birthday is a week away. Unfortunately, so is her murder - unless the mysterious man from the darkness can reach her first.

Donna is pursued in her dreams by a man who claims to be her Eternal Partner. During her waking hours, she’s cornered by another who claims to be the same. There’s only one problem: neither is entirely honest.

Or, for that matter, entirely human.

Eight years earlier, Donna’s life was dealt a terrible blow with the untimely death of a little brother who was left in her care. Ever since, Donna has yearned to get a normal life back – and despite her best friend Mo’s efforts to the contrary, Donna has almost managed it…at least until the Underworld cracks wide open, scattering chaos and spilling out every shifty force under the moon. Most of them want Donna dead, but some will stop at nothing to keep her alive.

Too bad she doesn’t know which is which.

With death following Donna like a shado…

That all changes when Donna, on her way to the store for ground beef and spaghetti noodles, crashes her Mustang straight into the Underworld’s most dangerous and vengeful deity. And far from desiring an apology, this merciless goddess expects blood. Now dinner’s on the back burner, the planet’s on a collision course with Chaos, and the only way out is down.

My review on the book.

I got this book for free from the author herself, to give an honest review.

Final Hour of the Hunter is at the moment I am asumming to be the last in this trilogy. I do hope the author makes another book that has the characters that have grown up and the old characters that have now important jobs.

The second book in the Midnight Hunter Trilogy was a book I could not put down. Bonnie has done it again with another amazing book. Dawn of the Hunter was just as intense as the first one.
