Two years have passed since the events that no one wants to think about. Everyone has tried to move on, but there’s something about this place that prevents it. The residents continue to grapple with life’s big questions: What is a family? What is a community? And what, if anything, are we willing to sacrifice in order to protect them?

As the locals of Beartown struggle to overcome the past, great change is on the horizon. Someone is coming home after a long time away. Someone will be laid to rest. Someone will fall in love, someone will try to fix their marriage, and someone will do anything to save their children. Someone will submit to hate, someone will fight, and someone will grab a gun and walk towards the ice rink.

So what are the residents of Beartown willing to sacrifice for their home?

The end of this series. This town has been through a lot within the last few years. Hockey is what the two towns eat and breathe, and tempers get up pretty high when it is hockey season. I am not a hockey fan; I don't watch it or even know anything about it. Yet, I was invested in this last book. I wanted to know how their lives would be in the future, who would move on, and who would stay within the two towns. I love how even though the towns are different, they always come together in some form and fashion when it is called for. Whether it be love, tragedy, or death. It seems that Beartown is thriving now, and Hed is not. We all know what the means for the towns. It means that folks will not be happy, and things that were hidden will come to light. Just goes to show that even those in office like to hide things. We get to see Peter redeem himself a bit, and the marriage he has with his wife is on the rocks.
I wasn't too happy that one of our favorite characters had something happen, but I guess things have to happen to pave the way for the future. I don't know what it is about this author, but he has a way of pulling you into the story, and you feel so much within the words. In the end, who are the winners?
