An isolated Scottish island, accessible to the mainland only twelve hours a day. A famous (some might say infamous) artist whose notoriously unfaithful husband disappeared after visiting her twenty years ago. A present-day discovery that intimately connects three people and unveils a web of secrets and lies.
I am unsure why I picked this read, but I did. Maybe because of the title and it seemed intriguing?
Man, to live on an island all by yourself and no one around. That is the best thing ever, especially for an artist and that is what happens. Vanessa our artist moves there after her husband cheats on her and she can just work and not worry about anyone. That is until she ends up meeting Grace. Grace ends up visiting and at times staying with Vanessa, but in the end, their whole vibe is just off. Grace seems to come across as needy and we all know how that then goes. We go back and forth between letters from Vanessa and the present.
When an exhibit is put on hold and is questioned it brings up a lot of suspension as to what is happening up there on the island.
Now, let's meet up with our guy who is trying to get all the work that Vanessa promised the business he works for. Becker is trying to do his job, but yet has his own personal issues going on. His whole life at the moment is drama lol. I will say I was not impressed with the ending. Between me wanting to find out if he was the father of his child, to was his girl cheating on him, to what the heck happened the last few pages. I felt duped. There were no answers. Wasn't my favorite.
