The truth has no place in a courtroom. The truth doesn't matter in a trial.
The only thing that matters is what the prosecution can prove.
Eddie Flynn used to be a con artist. Then he became a lawyer. Turned out the two weren't that different.
It's been over a year since Eddie vowed never to set foot in a courtroom again. But now he doesn't have a choice. Olek Volchek, the infamous head of the Russian mafia in New York, has strapped a bomb to Eddie's back and kidnapped his ten-year-old daughter Amy.
Eddie only has 48 hours to defend Volchek in an impossible murder trial - and win - if wants to save his daughter.
Under the scrutiny of the media and the FBI, Eddie must use his razor-sharp wit and every con-artist trick in the book to defend his 'client' and ensure Amy's safety. With the timer on his back ticking away, can Eddie convince the jury of the impossible?
Lose this case and he loses everything.

To be honest, the only reason I started reading was because I am on the waitlist from the library to read Thirteen. I didn't know it was part of a series until I was looking up books by this author.
This book did seem to take forever to get into though it was decently good.
Eddie is no longer a con artist, but the skills he used when he was one will come back to help him save the day.
When told by the mob to help or his daughter dies Eddie knows he has no other choice. However, what he uncovers is it is those close to you who will betray you. We see just how the mob has everything planned out and just how Eddie will stop them.
I do plan on reading the next one in the series as I want to see what other cases will Eddie find himself in as well as whether will he stay retired or come back to being a lawyer.
Because like Eddie says: "The truth has no place in a courtroom. The only thing that matters is what the prosecution can prove."
