For Ginny and her parents, losing their home and being forced to move to Nebraska was hard enough, but when a sudden dust storm forces them to seek shelter in the strange town of Pottsville, the real trouble begins. By day, Pottsville is all friendly faces and welcoming storefronts. But at night, creatures lurk in the shadows, and a bossy band of local kids seems to be in charge. And through it all, you can hear the eerie call of the sinister Dirge moaning in the distance, always hungering for a new friend to join its ancient, twisted game.

As Ginny is drawn deeper into the kids’ inner circle, she learns the answer to all her wishes lies just beyond the mysterious Crooked Door. But beware, beware when you knock twice, for every wish comes at a price. Soon, evil boils over in Pottsville, and Ginny must race to save her parents before they’re trapped forever in the Dirge’s dark realm.

I sure did; it had a great clean horror/scary factor. Ginny and her parents are forced to move because of hardships, so the town looks very interesting when they end up in a small town in the middle of nowhere. As the story unfolds, Ginny discovers that this town is not what you think. It is not all sweet; there are hidden horrors just wanting to sink their claws into you. You can't escape the Crooked Door and what it wants. Remember, when you knock, it grants your wish. 
It will be a fight for survival for Ginny, and we see just how she never gives up; with the help of others, can the town be rid of this curse? Or will it continue? The cover fits the creepy factor of the story!! If you have a child who likes scary books, but it is not overly scary and clean, then this is one I would recommend. 






Born and raised in Arkansas, Brad McLelland spent several years working as a crime journalist in the South before earning his MFA in creative writing from Oklahoma State University. He is the co-author of The Legends of the Lost Causes western fantasy series, and the author of The Crooked Door. A fan of jigsaw puzzles, scary movies, and nature walks, Brad lives in Oklahoma with his wife, stepdaughter, a chubby cat who thinks she's human, and a piano-playing blind kitty named Ophelia who's more popular on Twitter than he is.

Larry is a rancher from Texas, who came to stay in Maeve’s grandmothers hotel. It transpires that the hotel is in financial difficulty and Larry is in a position to invest in the business. In the process he and Maeve come to blows, literally, as Maeve lashes out slapping his face and Larry reciprocates by taking her across his knee for one hell of a sound spanking.
