He’s from 1892 England, she’s in a small library in 2017. And that's just the start of their troubles.

Emme never meant to stay in Maine. She'd come only to find a librarian for her Gram's library, a custodian for the collection of mysterious books she'd promised to protect. On a dark, wintery night, alone in the library, she takes her first glance into one of the antique novels and finds herself transported to 1892 England staring into the eyes of handsome and dashing hero Jack Ridgewell. As each chapter passes she learns you can truly fall in love with a character in a book, that book boyfriends are real and Emme must choose between the real world, and his.

When the last page is read he's gone and Emme feels the cold loneliness of lost love. Will she find Jack again, or will their love be forever lost? The answer lies within the pages…
I was very impressed with this time-traveling story. I am not big on time traveling or anything with that in the story, yet I was very drawn in and couldn't wait to finish the book to find out what was going to happen next.
Emme is starting her own life, going to college, and making friends getting out of her small town in Maine. When her grandmother, who has cared for her, her entire life is on her deathbed. Emme has to take the reins of the library. It isn't that she doesn't want ever to do it; she wants to live her life and not be stuck in the library. Unfortunately, it seems that the books have other plans. We get to see what she gets to do, and it is what every book lover would love to do. Go into books and live them. She gets genuinely thrown into this job with no training. She has to learn everything possible while trying to figure out how to keep the library afloat and push away the prominent builder who keeps wanting to buy the property.
With Emme, she goes into books to preserve history and learn about those who made history. Sort of like telling their story and making sure it is accurate. The only thing is, if you do anything inside the book, it can alter history that is not what you want to do.
There is a bit of romance written within the pages, and we have to wonder if Emme will stay in the past or move forward to the future? Fortunately, we can only dive into the story to find out.

"One minute you are living and dreaming of your future, and the next you're living someone else's dream."
"We don't get to choose our lives like they tell us when we're little, do we?"
