The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is no place for button-downed citizens--unless they're trying to hide a murder.
Sharp-witted Liv Bergen can't avoid becoming embroiled in murders, it seems. Her family's hometown of Sturgis, South Dakota, is quickly becoming the Sodom of the Black Hills during the dog days of summer as it hosts the infamous rally of grizzled hard-core motorcycle bikers--half a million of them. Crime comes too close for comfort when Liv must solve the mystery of a beautiful young townie to clear her brother's name.
Liv witnesses the vile death of another young woman, and during her investigation of both crimes she attracts the uninvited attentions of the menacing leader of Lucifer's Lot--the baddest of the bad biker gangs. Her quick wit and pragmatic thinking are all that stands between her and certain elimination.
FBI agent Streeter Pierce is back on the trail, working undercover to find the murderer and a shadow criminal called the Crooked Man. When he and Liv cross paths, sparks are flying, literally.

I received this book via NetGalley to give an honest review.

We pick up right where book one left off and it seems Liv just cannot stop helping solve cases especially when she is hurt. When she witnesses what she believes is crime she knows that the MC will be looking for her. On top of this, it seems her brother will find himself being questioned by the police on the murder of his girlfriend. When he asks for Liv's help on not only clearing his name but also in finding out who is involved she doesn't hesitate even if the FBI gets involved. What Liv uncovers is a secret that has been held onto for years. The one thing about Liv is that she does whatever she needs to help her family out even if that means putting herself in the danger zone.
I honestly think that Liv needs to become an agent because she is amazing at putting pieces together to solve the crime.
Though this biker gang came across as the worst their leader did not. For some reason, he seemed to be a good guy at times and I am not sure if that was an act, or if he really wanted to seem good. I was a bit weirded out at how they earned their purple wings I even went back to re-read that section in case I got it wrong.
I think this author did a great job with Sturgis and what does happen there though she did keep it a bit cleaner in some aspects.
Overall a good story I am loving this Liv Bergen series. I can not wait to read more.

Sandra Brannan

Sandra Brannan has created a heart-pounding mystery thriller series around Liv Bergen, a woman who embodies the spirit of South Dakota. Much like her character Liv Bergen, Brannan has spent her career in the mining business.
Working her way up from day laborer in the company her grandfather founded to a top executive in the family business wasn't easy, as Sandra often received threads from those opposed to mining. These life experiences gave her a first-person perspective into the high-stakes scenarios of which she writes.
In response to the overwhelming success of "In the Belly of Jonah" (2010), "Lot's Return to Sodom" (2011), "Widow's Might" (2012) and "Noah's Rainy Day" (2013), Brannan prioritizes her time first to the librarians and booksellers for nominating her to earn two ABA Indie Next List Notables, to book clubs and fans who have described Liv Bergen as the love child of Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone and Lee Child's Jack Reacher, and to teachers for all the gratitude she has for their role in her success. Her books have landed on the Denver Post best-seller list and reached the top 10 for e-book mysteries and top 5 for women's mysteries. She celebrates the launch of the fifth book in the series, "Solomon's Whisper," in September 2014.
Named one of the top 25 most fabulous women by Black Hills Magazine, Brannan lives in her hometown of Rapid City, South Dakota, with her husband. Their budding family consists of four boys and three grandchildren.
