Homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite has returned to the police force after the sensational retrial of her sister’s killer. Still scarred from that ordeal, Tracy is pulled into an investigation that threatens to end her career, if not her life.
A serial killer known as the Cowboy is killing young women in cheap motels in North Seattle. Even after a stalker leaves a menacing message for Crosswhite, suggesting the killer or a copycat could be targeting her personally, she is charged with bringing the murderer to justice. With clues scarce and more victims dying, Tracy realizes the key to solving the murders may lie in a decade-old homicide investigation that others, including her captain, Johnny Nolasco, would prefer to keep buried. With the Cowboy on the hunt, can Tracy find the evidence to stop him, or will she become his next victim?

I received this book via NetGalley to give an honest review.

This is book two in the Tracy Crosswhite series and it is just as good as the first. If you haven't read the first book that is okay I think this book does good as a stand alone, but there is some things that happened in the first book that come into play in this book. Also you get some backstory on Tracy and Dan.

In Her Final Breath Tracy is back to work after learning who was her sister's killer, now she is on a case where there is a serial killer hog-tying victims. When she is on a shooting range and finds a noose left for her she realizes that the killer may be targeting her.
When Tracy's boss puts her in charge of a task force to capture The Cowboy it comes as a bit of shocker especially since them two have some issues with each other. With the help of her colleagues they work around the clock trying to capture this serial killer before he strikes again but will they catch the right guy?
While working to capture The Cowboy Tracy seems to have a stalker but who is it? Is it this serial killer or is it someone else entirely?
The author did good with building suspense and having you guess until towards the end who the killer is.
We see a bit more of Tracy and Dan in this one. They both do good not only in a relationship but also with solving crimes it seems. Tracy involves Dan into looking into a past case that could cause her to lose her badge if her boss finds out but that doesn't stop Tracy or Dan from uncovering the truth.
I like having a female detective in stories and seeing how they solve crimes and deal with things that come their way. I hope there is more in this series involving Tracy as I think she is good at not only her job but uncovering things that remind hidden.
