Review: A Kiss of Blood by Kallysten

A Kiss of Blood
All Deidra wanted was a family.

Instead of a husband and children however, fate gives her a Sire, a clan, and a village she is sworn to protect from beastly demons. It also gives her Tristen, who teaches her what it means to be a vampire—and what it means to love.

When her duties to her village conflict with her Sire’s orders, she has to choose which part of her family is the most important. And Tristen, confronted with her disappearance, also needs to decide where his loyalties lie.

I received this book to give an honest review.

I love all of Kallysten's writing. With this one I was not into the book as much as I hoped not until 1/4 into the story then I started enjoy it. That is why I gave it 4.5 stars.

This is a short 44 page story that has details and character growth done perfectly so you are not feeling rushed.

Diedra makes a chose to join the Sire and her clan. With it she gets feelings for Tristen who is the Sire's favorite she doesn't really want to upset the Sire.

When something tragic happens to Diedra's village the one she swore to protect she ends up disappearing, can Tristen find her? And if he does will he choose to stay with her or go back to Sire? Diedra shows Tristen what it means to be human even though they are the undead.

About the Author:
Kallysten is a writer of romance novels and short stories, most of them with paranormal elements.

Her first eBooks were published by Linden Bay Romance in 2005. The defunct Venus Press subsequently published a few of her short stories. Because so many of her stories are linked as series and part of the same universe, she decided it would make sense to have them all in the same place, which is why she self-published, first with the co-op Alinar Publishing and now on her own. When she sees calls for submissions that speak to her muse, she sometimes tries for them, and was published this way by Samhain and Torquere.
