Gemini Rising: Ethereal Fury by Jessica O'Gorek

Ethereal Fury (Gemini Rising, #1)
Mother Earth, wounded by the human race and its disregard for her resources, will recruit human souls to serve Her and turn against humanity. A rising force festers; Gemini, a clan of paranormal beings will systematically possess and destroy towns, cities, and states. Amidst the chaos, a forbidden relationship between Onyx, a lead Gemini, and Violette, a human, begins. They will both find themselves in the middle of a revolutionary war that will either save, or destroy our world.

I received this book to give an honest review.

This was a different paranormal read for me than my normal vamps and weres. Let me say this first the cover might turn you off but don't judge this book by its cover. The story told is much better.

You have a human who polluted the Earth and that of course pissed Mother Earth off. So she makes him a Gemini. The first couple of pages you learn what a Gemini is, they are a wisp of smoke that need a human body to really do anything.

Mother Earth has a plan to rid the plant of humans one church and town at a time.
What got me was if they have been doing this for so long how come just the church has put this together and not others? That threw me off a bit.

Onyx is a Gemini who shouldn't have feelings of any sort, but one day while trying to infiltrate the church. He hears someone singing. This causes him to become curious and ends up getting feelings for Violette.

Onyx takes over the body of Slate who tries to fight off Onyx and it is like a battle going on inside. Onyx and you can tell Slate does also have feelings for Violette. You have a feeling that Onyx doesn't really want to kill anyone anymore since meeting Violette. But what can he do about that? If Mother Earth or his bothers and sisters find out well he would be considered a traitor among his kind.

One thing that bothered me was Violette was saved by one of the Gemini but they never seem to make that connection to each other. I can only hope that this will come to light at another point in the next book or books.

The ending is one of those endings that isn't much of a cliffhanger but will leave you wanting more just so you can find out what will happen next. Overall an interesting read and a good paranormal.
