She came for the fashion show. He came to catch a killer.

The El Paso fashion gala was slated to be the hottest event of the year and a must do if Liz Monahan, the creative brains behind Nina Bruce Designs, was to vault the company to the big time. Circumstances put Liz at the party in one of her own creations, escorted by a young, handsome model hired to show her off to the well-known and well-established. But Liz didn’t count on her date being an undercover Texas Ranger who is investigating a human trafficking ring. She also didn’t count on being kidnapped and trafficked herself.

When Texas Ranger Ben Hunter slips away from Liz Monahan at the gala and begins his investigation, he couldn’t be more surprised to arrive in Juarez, Mexico to find her held captive by infamous human trafficker Carlos Sanchez. In order to save her, Ben must commit murder. Hers.

So I am not too big on romance books but I do find myself on occasion reading them. I liked this story being told and the attraction that Liz and Ben have for each other. Ben is a yummy Texas Ranger that puts the bad guys away his team is considered the best of the best and I have to agree. No I am not saying this because I wanted to grow up and be a Texas Ranger well I guess I am lol.
Anyway on to the review of the book, Liz is a designer and when she has to show up in the dress she designed at first she is against it but when she meets Ben who is undercover she really doesn't mind too much. Though when Liz over hears something to do with Ben and the word cop she gets involved way more than she wanted to and now her life and Ben's hangs in the balance with the man involved with human trafficking and getting someone's granddaughter back in one piece. This story does take place within El Paso and Mexico so we see a lot of border talk and it makes you wonder how easy is it to have people trafficked though between the two states.
All the while of Ben trying to do his job of putting away the man who is responsible for human trafficking he also trying to keep Liz safe while Liz is fighting her feelings for Ben. There is plenty of action, some steamy scenes, a lot of dodging from the bad guys. This is a good contemporary romance and I want to see what else this author has in store for us readers in book two of the Special Ops series.
