Review: Sun Poisoned (Sunshine #2) by Nikki Rae

Sophie’s life has changed. She’s moved to New York, she’s playing music for new people, and she’s making new friends. Then there’s Myles, and the fact that he is now her boyfriend—and everyone knows it.

She’s not exactly normal, living in a half-human, half-vampire world, but she’s finally, truly happy. However, some parts of Sophie and Myles’ old lives still hide in the dark, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
Sophie’s having nightmares again, but they aren't about her; Myles is hiding something as well, something Sophie isn’t sure she wants to know.
And one lie will change everything.
No matter how hard she tries to cover up the marks her monsters have left behind, they never truly go away, and Myles’ monsters are no different.
Once again, Sophie’s caught between life and death, but this time, only she can save herself.

I received this book to give an honest review.

This story takes place right after book one. I would suggest you read book one before this one so you can understand the secrets that come out, and the characters.  Now as we know Sophie suffers from the sun. But she doesn't let that determine who she is as a person. She has her two best friends beside her Trei and Boo and they are starting their music career thanks to Myles, Sophie's boyfriend. Now if you read book one than you know that Myles is a supernatural. No one knows but Sophie. Sophie is not truly out of danger, but she feels as though she is. Then her world gets turned upside down, secrets come out that should have never been there in the first place.

For me this book was enjoyable after I got through the first 30 or 40 pages of the story. Being as I felt there was A LOT of I'm sorry, quit apologizing and so forth. It drove me crazy. I wanted the action like I got in book one. Luckily the author was able to give me what I wanted later on in the book especially with the twists woven into the story.
Also towards the end, Sophie's friends are always by her side no matter what. With this one they seemed to be on the back burner a majority of the time. Not in a bad way, but I would expect them there when she is going through a tough time and they really weren't.
Where the ending left off I do hope there is a book three in the works as I want to know what will fully be decided and how will it effect everyone.

My favorite quote: "Lies are like poison."
