Review and Giveaway: The Three Kitties That Saved My Life

AN UPLIFTING TRUE STORY OF LOVE-from love and loss to love renewed-a feel-good read.
Losing loved ones is an awful fact of life; losing one's loving spouse, one's day-to-day partner through life, especially in the prime of life, is one of the most unbearable trolls that we humans are forced to endure. This is the true story of my journey from grieving widower, not caring if I lived or died, to the once-again happily married man I am today, a man who both loves and cherishes life. My three kitties have given me a new zest for living.
Equally inspiring and entertaining, my story begins with loss and tears, but it ends with lots of love and laughter. I think that you will find yourself moved by my journey.
Excerpt:
It is amazing how time helps. In time, I have learned to overcome my own albatroll. I have learned to live again, to love again. Life is a gift reads a plaque on our dining room wall, and that sums up what I have gained from the three kitties that saved my life. From Coco, I learned to care again. From Kitty, I learned to love again. From Pom Pom, I have learned to cope with my own demons, the effects of again being one of these. Pom Pom has taught me to accept what is then to move onward. Yes, I have learned plenty from my three kitties.
My journey has been a long one, a difficult one at times, but it has a happy ending. The three kitties in my life have made it so. They have all helped me to become the happy-to-be-alive man that I am today. I now accept rather than cope. I live each day to the fullest, knowing full well that life is a gift, and a very precious one at that. I look back on my life and I often think that I must be the luckiest man in the world. I have so much to be thankful for. The wonderment and beauty of life are both so dear to me.
And, to add a delicious icing to the lovely taste of my life, I can say with total honesty to the whole world, my voice booming into the sky, my dancing feet not caring in the least who might see me, that I have been very fortunate to have done something that brings more sheer delight and wonderful pride to me than anything else that I have accomplished in my life: I have fallen madly, heads-over-heels in love not once, but twice, and how many others can say that?
Thank you, Kitty!
AVAILABLE as an e-book and a paperback at Amazon.

I received this book to give an honest review.

I honestly did not really read the blurb, I just read the title and figured I would go out of my normal genre and give this a try. Now I like animals, but I am not big on reading about animals. So I was like hmmm what will this book be like. And I was so glad I gave this book a go. I was easily kept into reading the story, my heart broke when he lost his wife and he was in a slump of depression. When he tried the dating scene after so many years and was deceived by people on the internet my heart went out to him. As I know it must be hard for an older man to want to date but can not find that special person.  But when he found a friend with Coco and Coco pretty much became a son to him even though he was a cat it was like it was destiny. This author was meant to live life, take care of someone else, and attempt to be happy. But Coco is a very active cat and I found myself laughing at the antics that Coco would put him through. Especially with the cabinets.
Then we get to meet Kitty who makes him find human happiness again and how he makes it known by pouring out his heart to her was just the most sweetest thing ever. Kitty and him are just perfect for each other you can tell by the writing in the story being told. You can feel the love radiating off the pages for each other. When they both make a decision to get another cat and named him Pom Pom you get more laughter as Coco and Pom Pom are just the perfect cat brothers. They keep you entertained, and when Kitty and the author get bad news about Pom Pom your heart once again breaks as you hope he can be saved. You honestly do not this author to go through more heartache as he has been through so much and has made it out of the darkness with laughter, love, hope, a will to keep going on.

You get so much feelings within this story, that you can not just put it down. You will keep on wanting to read and read to see what other joy and happiness will this author have in his life. There is hope within the story.
In the story he has fallen in love twice and asks how many others can say that. My answer not many people can, but I was glad he was able to.  I enjoyed the way the author wrote the story as you could relate to him and what he was going through. I would recommend this to all adults and even if this is not your normal genre to read give it a try. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Mike MeyerWriter of mysteries, thrillers, humorous fiction, and non-fiction: Love and romance, laughter and tears, thrills and fears. My INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE COLLECTION currently has two books: COVERT DREAMS, Book One; and DEADLY EYES, Book Two. My CONTEMPORARY/HUMOROUS FICTION COLLECTION currently has two books: THE FAMOUS UNION, Book One; and THE SURVIVAL OF MARVIN BAINES, Book Two.   I have resided in and have visited many places in the world, all of which have contributed in some way to my own published writing. I have literally traveled throughout the world, on numerous occasions. I have lived in Finland, Germany, Thailand, Saudi Arabia (where COVERT DREAMS - INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE COLLECTION BOOK ONE - is set), and the U.S. Virgin Islands (where DEADLY EYES - INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE COLLECTION BOOK TWO - is set). I gained the wanderlust to see the world, to experience other cultures, at an early age, and this desire has never left me. If anything, it has only gained in intensity as I have aged. I try to travel internationally at least once a year. In the interim, I spend lots of time traveling around both my home state of California and other nearby states.

I spent my early years in the small town of Lone Pine, California, the home of almost every western movie, in addition to a wide variety of other genres, made in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. In fact, Hollywood still films parts of big-time movies there today. My dad, the town’s lifeguard at the time, personally knew John Wayne, Lloyd Bridges, and Lee Marvin, all of whom came to the town’s pool, the Memorial Plunge, at times to cool off after a hectic day of working in the sun. I was even an extra in a movie filmed there in 1957, MONOLITH MONSTERS, a B-cult favorite even today. I was ten years old at the time. Even though I resided in a small town hours from the big city, I was exposed to the excitement of action and heroes at a formative age, and, thus, my interest in writing novels of suspense such as COVERT DREAMS and DEADLY EYES was born. I am particularly proud of the fact that these two international suspense thrillers are rated #1 and #2 on the Goodreads Recommended Thriller/Suspense list.

As a recent retiree from a forty-year career as a professor of writing, I now live in Southern California wine country with my wife, Kitty, and our two adorable rescue cats. My books are available as both e-books and paperbacks at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Sony, Kobo, and Apple.

I thank you for your interest in my work.
