I was gifted this book for an honest review.
Samantha Garrett is your average mom! Involved with everything, loves her family, a mom a wife, and all that ends in a blink of an eye. She wakes up and she is a vampire.
She enters a world that humans believe is a legend. Samantha's name is changed to Samoda who becomes a warrior and has a whole new life. Nothing that she had ever imagined.
There was some action in here, a love that forms and takes shape.
The concept of you can die and be re-born into a vampire that fights for the good of mankind is pretty interesting. Though at first I did not get the concept of that. I had to re-read the part where she died and a couple of pages later to finally figure that out.

I have read plenty of vampire stories where the vampire is normally a young woman! But with this book I could connect with Samantha, a middle-age woman who is a mom, married, a normal life. And I could feel her anguish over losing them, because the way she felt I could see myself feeling that way if I lost mine.
The way her old life and new life came together was pretty good.
Samantha/Samoda gets certain powers, like a really good one where she could read other's thoughts. The romance between her and Drake you could just feel it building and building, I am finally glad that something happened between as it seemed that they just kept knowing that each one liked the other. But no one would act!

I didn't feel as though there was enough evil in the book, because it is a good vs. evil vampire story. You have Samantha/Samoda and Drake who are hunting for a vampire named Thomas who is building an army. But you really only get a small touch of the evil, you get mostly romance.
Legends of Darkness is mostly in a Samantha's point of view, which at times you get it in almost short sentences.

Maybe in book two there will be more action more trying to stop Thomas and his army.

Overall it was a decent read, I will find myself reading book two since I would like to find out if they ever stop Thomas.
